Have your say on local GP opening hours
Patients registered with GP practices in east and north Hertfordshire are being asked their views on GP opening hours by East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS England.
GP practices in the areas known as Stort Valley and Villages, Upper Lea Valley and Stevenage are currently open between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday, with some practices open for longer hours on one or two weekdays and some Saturday mornings. These are called 'extended hours appointments’.
The new proposal is to offer extended hours appointments every weekday evening and at weekends or early mornings, depending on local demand.
These evening and weekend appointments should provide greater choice and access for patients and will be with a local GP, nurse or another healthcare professional and not necessarily at the surgery that patients are registered with.
Everyone registered with a GP practice in east and north Hertfordshire is asked to give their opinion on these proposals.
Beverley Flowers, Chief Executive of East and North Hertfordshire CCG, urged local people to have their say: “Patients may find it difficult to attend daytime appointments, particularly if they commute to work or have childcare constraints. We want to ensure that we design and develop health services that meet all of our local population’s needs, making the best use of limited resources and GP availability. To do that, we need to hear patients’ views. Please take the time to read through the proposals and complete the survey.”
The survey will close at 5pm on Friday 30th March 2018 in Stevenage and Friday 20 April in Stort Valley and Villages and Upper Lea Valley. Responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
To ensure best use of NHS resources patients are asked to complete the appropriate survey online at:
