Evidence-Based Interventions Programme consultation
Please note this is a national consultation being organised by NHS England - please visit their consultation hub using the links shown below - the consultation closes on 28 September 2018.
The NHS is looking to reduce the number of surgeries or treatments. Evidence shows that these methods are not always the best way to treat some of the conditions, therefore they can be ineffective. These surgeries or treatments are prescribed by doctors, without special approval.
At both national and local levels, there is a general agreement that more needs to be done to ensure the least effective surgeries or treatments are not routinely performed, or only performed in more clearly defined circumstances.
We want to know what you think about a new set up of the programme, which surgeries or treatments we should target initially and proposed criteria, the activity goals we should set and delivery actions, including proposed new terms in the NHS Standard Contract.
